Drinks International have recently published their classification of spirits brand selling above 1million cases (12*75cl) in 2001. Four Cognac companies are in the ratings; Hennessy – 3,3m, Rémy-Martin – 1,7m, Martell – 1,3m, Courvoisier – 1,0m. If the first two display healthy growth rates at more than 5% this is not the case for Courvoisier and Martell who slip by 5% and 2% respectively.

In an interviex given to the same magazine Richard Burrows from Pernod-Ricard reaffirms his company's confidence in their ability to have Martell progress in the future.
